SLATE

Slate is formed from very fine grained shale and clay deposits which settle in to layers under extreme temperature and pressure fluctuations. This creates the characteristic partings and grain distinctive of slate, this is known as its natural cleft and is ideal for use outdoors where a positive anti-slip finish is required. Slate tiles come in honed, tumbled or riven finishes for use on floors or walls. Basalt is a very strong lava with high density and mainly consists of plagioclase, pyroxene and olivine. Basalt in general, is black, sometimes sage green and dark purple, etc. and in the spot structure. Most of the structures are in the shapes of pores and almonds. They are formed from the spouting and cooling of the lava in deep lithosphere. They have strong resistance to wear and are usually used for building construction and road paving.
